Neah-Kah-Nie School District Website
Neah-Kah-Nie School District is located on the beautiful North Oregon Coast, encompassing the communities of Bay City, Garibaldi, Rockaway Beach, Wheeler, Nehalem, and Manzanita. The attendance zone is 400 square miles from Bay City to Clatsop County line.
In an era when content is of crucial importance, and a time when almost everyone is online for just about everything, a strong online presence is of utmost importance. The district reached out to 100SEVEN as they wanted to refresh their district and schools websites.
We started with the team of staff and students in mind, as the design elements and content were both integral for designing the district’s new website. Priorities included a space to feature news and announcements; a community page; a district calendar; and individual school web pages where parents and students can quickly access the information that is important to them.
The District Needs Expand
A year after launching the new district site, they approached 100SEVEN again to build a website specifically for their new Health & Wellness Center that would open within the High School.
Challenge
The NKN Student Health and Wellness Center was being launched as a collaboration between the school district and a local medical organization. The center is on-site inside the High School, and will help improve the health and lives of children attending school because healthy students are better learners. As the partnership prepared to open the clinic, they needed a website that would introduce the community to the new concept, and become an ongoing resource to learn about the health center and health resources.
Approach
Our approach to this project was to create a site that felt very friendly, full of easy-to-find information. From introducing the staff to explaining the difference between the clinic and the school nurse, the goal was to anticipate questions and provide answers to the questions that parents and students would have about this new service.
The Build-Out
Working directly with District administration and health center staff, the design look and feel was established to provide a professional medical center look, with an eye toward youth as the majority of patients will be students. As we had also recently built the Neah-Kah-Nie School District website, the health site also has visual cues and similar icons to provide a synergistic energy between the two sites.
Results
• Designed and Launched a new website for the school district and each school in the district.
• Designed and Launched a separate website for the Student Health and Wellness Center.
• Worked with stakeholders at all levels of the school district to define goals and meet expectations.
